Damien Chacona is the Executive Director of Kids Enjoy Exercise Now (KEEN) San Francisco, part of a national, nonprofit organization that provides one-on-one, volunteer-led, recreational opportunities for children and young adults with developmental delays and physical disabilities at no cost to their families and caregivers.
Damien joined KEEN San Francisco from the San Francisco Child Abuse Prevention Center (SFCAPC), where he served as Operations Supervisor, managing all aspects of facility, maintenance, infrastructure, and contractors at SFCAPC’s headquarters. Damien transitioned to SFCAPC from his role as the Volunteer Services Manager at The Volunteer Center Serving San Francisco and San Mateo Counties, where he managed the Volunteer Services Department; oversaw events, website, and programming (both internal and external); managed department staff; and placed clients in appropriate volunteer positions supportive to their personal goals.
During his tenure at The Volunteer Center, Damien served as the Treasurer of the Board of Directors of Access San Francisco, as well as Chair of the Development Committee and the Special Campaign Communications Committee. Access SF acted as the nonprofit manager of San Francisco’s public access television stations. It was a hub where San Francisco citizens and nonprofits were offered training in media and television, access to equipment and channel time, and state-of-the-art facility resources.
In his spare time, Damien runs a small theater production company. He also manages the Burning Man volunteers who set up the second-most visited structure at the 60,000-person event: the Center Camp Café.
Damien received his bachelor's degree from Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, and in 2010 earned his MNA from the University of San Francisco. Damien lives in San Francisco with his wife and two dogs.
