Awards and Grants in San Francisco

It was a unanimous vote by board members of the Golden Gate Triathlon Club to choose KEEN San Francisco as their 2011 T.A.G. (Tri And Give) beneficiary.

Christina Nosek, Board Secretary said, "We love KEEN, it was a perfect blend". - And the feeling is mutual!

On Saturday, May 14th, at the Franciscan on the Wharf, members of the GGTC Board and Neil Fraser (of TRIMORE Fitness) the lead T.A.G coach, presented KEEN with a check for $5,000 for our programs.

For the last year, we have had many LoopNet employees join us as volunteer coaches to spend time with our athletes, on our Coaches Committee and even our KEENGala Committee. And, on April 15th, we were please to learn that the employees at LoopNet had selected KEEN for a grant of $2,500 in support of our Basketball programs!

In November of 2010, KEEN San Fracisco was nominated from thousands of San Francisco charities to be profiled on 7x7.com and then voted by the readers of 7x7 Magazine and Friends in the community as "One of You Favorite Local Charities"! We are thrilled to have your continued support and well wishes.

We also wish to thank the staff of 7x7 Magazine and their President, Todd Sotkiewicz, for the coverage and the wonderful gift of $700!

Also in November of 2010 the Lululemon Athletica store in Cow Hollow chose KEEN San Francisco to be the beneficiary of in-store shopping and their staff and customers also generously donated $700!

On September 26, 2010 employees from eBay & Paypal celebrated their 15th anniverssary and joined us as volunteer Coaches for the Sports 1 & 2 sessions at the YMCA. They also generously donated $1,000 through the eBay Foundation and the Silicon Valley Foundation in support of KEEN programs!

Awards and Grants across the Nation In other cities where KEEN programs have a longer history, affiliates have an impressive record of receiving awards and grants from their local communities. As KEEN San Francisco develops, we hope to achieve a level of recognition similar to that of our sister affiliate in Washington, DC. Highlights of their awards and grants are below:

KEEN was selected for inclusion in the 2005 Catalogue for Philanthropy: Greater Washington as one of the small charities "making a difference" in the DC area. Donate through the Catalogue.

KEEN was also recognized by the Federal Communications Bar Association Foundation. In 2005 they named KEEN Greater DC the sole beneficiary of the procedes of their annual silent auction - over $76,000 - to bring KEEN programs into the underserved area of Southeast DC.

CURE AUTISM NOW, for the second consecutive year, has donated 10% of the registration proceeds from its July 4th 5K in Potomac, MD to KEEN Greater DC.

In celebration of its 40th anniversary, Washingtonian Magazine name KEEN Greater DC as one of the "40 organizations [that] strengthen the bodies and spirits of young Washingtonians."
