KEEN’s Mission
Empower youth with disabilities by providing free, non-competitive one-to-one programs of exercise, fitness and fun, led by volunteer coaches.

KEEN’s Vision
Foster confidence, self-esteem and community inclusion for youth with disabilities; strengthen communities through education of volunteers; and provide families with respite and a supportive network.

New Program - KEEN Yoga and Swim Saturday Spectacular

In collaboration with the Pomeroy Recreation and Rehabilitation Center, KEEN introduces a yoga and swim program. Athletes will first practice yoga with a certified yoga instructor, and then swim in a heated therapeutic pool.

Get moving in the fun run, stretch out to accessible yoga, and boogie in the dance class. Parents and friends can browse the Resource Fair and meet local care providers from the community.

KEEN USA hosted a National Symposium in Washington, DC on the need for fitness programs for kids with disabilities in light of the childhood obesity epidemic. Representatives from NCHPAD, The YMCA, Special Olympics, SHAPE America, Playworks, and other organizations came together to discuss access and barriers to programming, best practices for providing programs, outcomes measurement and other issues on this critical topic.
